Sunday, July 10, 2011

MIDNIGHT VADER, 2-year-old colt from the first crop of two-time Horse of the Year INVASOR, placed in the 5 1/2-furlong Hoover S. on July 10 at River Downs. Making only his third start, he was unhurried early and put in a good rally outside into the stretch to earn his first black type. He is a homebred of Bridle Breeze Farm and is out of the Seattle Slew mare, Allou.

His sire INVASOR won nine G1 races, including the Breeders’ Cup Classic, Whitney and Pimlico Special Handicaps. In 2010, INVASOR was the third leading freshman sire by yearling average, with individuals bringing $350,000 at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga and $300,000, $275,000 and $225,000 at Keeneland September.
